Project Phases
Audit and Assessment
Key personnel will complete an initial review or audit, identifying the digital resources hosted online, including public-facing websites and/or course sites, and assessing the accessibility of documents, websites, audio and video content, and supplemental applications.
Improvement and Implementation
Implementation guidelines and assistance through labs and workshops will be offered throughout the fall and spring semesters to offer targeted training for the types of content and share best practices for implementation. Content creators, web editors, and course instructors will be responsible for ensuring that all new and updated digital content adheres to accessibility standards.
Monitor and Remediate
Ongoing monitoring will be integrated into existing UMW websites using a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) compliant validation tool to monitor website compliance and assist with remediation of non-compliant features. In addition, we’ll activate monitoring withing Canvas to continue to access and audit new content.
Vendors and partners will also be responsible for necessary updates to comply with the standards.
