To add or edit a Gravity Form on your site, you can <a href=\"webmaster@umw.edu\">contact the Web Team<\/a> (webmaster@umw.edu) for assistance.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-help-us-help-you\">Help Us Help You<\/h3><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-existing-form-updates\">Existing Form Updates<\/h4><p>When reaching out about updates to an existing form, there are a few things we need from you:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the URL for the page where the form exists;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a description of what fields on the form need to be updated;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the new content that needs to be added or deleted from those form fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>If you are looking to add new fields to your form, please let us know what the field should be called, where to place it in the form, and whether or not that field is required.<\/p><p>If you need to add or remove a recipient of form submissions, you can send us the name and email address for those users and we can make those adjustments.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-form\">New Form<\/h4><p>When reaching out about a new form for your site, please include the following in your request:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the URL for the page where the form will go (please indicate if it is being added to a new page);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the names, content, and types for each field in the form;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>indications for which fields are required;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the names and email addresses for anyone who needs to receive the submissions from the form;<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-types-of-fields\">Types of Fields<\/h3><p>Gravity Forms has a number of common fields that can help you build the form you need. The following form fields are available to us when creating your form:<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone Number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Text Field <em>(for free response or other text response needs)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Radio Buttons <em>(to allow only one option to be selected)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Checkboxes <em>(to allow multiple options to be selected)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drop Down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File Upload<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><p>If your form requires something not listed here, please let us know so we can help you or point you in the direction of another form option.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-form-submissions\">Form Submissions<\/h3><p>In addition to receiving submissions to your UMW email, you can also view form submissions any time in the WordPress dashboard by going to Gravity Forms &gt; Entries and making sure that the dropdown that appears at the top of the window is displaying the correct form name.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-personally-identifiable-information\">Personally Identifiable Information<\/h4><p>Gravity Forms <strong>cannot collect<\/strong> anything considered &ldquo;personally identifiable information&rdquo; for security reasons. Adding a new page to your site gives you a clean slate to share your content.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-add-a-new-page\">How to Add a New Page<\/h3><p>To add a new page to your site, open your Dashboard and find your way to the Page List by clicking on &ldquo;Pages&rdquo; in the left-hand sidebar. Once there, look near the top of the dashboard to find the &ldquo;Add Page&rdquo; button. It should be next to the &ldquo;Pages&rdquo; heading.<\/p><p>When the editing interface opens, you will need to enter the page title at the top of the editor and make sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/in.umw.edu\/university-communications\/digital-communications\/managing-your-site\/block-editor-overview\/umw-herointro-text-block\/\">add the Hero Block<\/a> as the first block on the page. <strong>The Hero Block must be used on all pages in the new design.<\/strong><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"928\" height=\"227\" src=\"http:\/\/in.umw.edu\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/12\/NewPage.png\" alt=\"Example of an empty page in the WordPress Block Editor. They may be as simple as a saved layout for specific pieces of content on a page or as complex as a saved template for a whole page of content. The Digital Communications Team handles the creation of Block Patterns, so if you think your site would benefit from a Block Pattern, please contact <a href=\"mailto:webmaster@umw.edu\">webmaster@umw.edu<\/a>.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-using-block-patterns\">Using Block Patterns<\/h3><p>When a Block Pattern has been created for your site, you can begin putting it on your pages. EagleEye is emailed to all faculty and staff by 5 p.m. each Thursday, but can be accessed anytime.<\/p><p><strong>If the message to all employees is of an official nature that speaks on behalf of the entire institution and\/or will have a critical impact on the performance of an employee&rsquo;s work at the institution (such as an announcement from the Human Resources Office, etc.) then:<\/strong><\/p><p>The message needs to be reviewed and approved in advance by the Executive Staff member or his\/her designee who oversees the office generating the message. The message is then sent by the Executive Staff member to the Office of University Relations for distribution via a broadcast email to all employees.<\/p><p><strong>If the message is to be sent to one particular group of employees exclusively (such as teaching faculty only, or admin faculty only, or Stafford campus faculty only, or classified employees only) then:<\/strong><\/p><p>The message needs to be reviewed and approved in advance by the Executive Staff member who oversees the office generating the message. Each Executive Staff member will have the option of sending the message to this particular employee group herself or himself without needing to involve any other vice president or the Office of University Relations.<\/p><p><strong>If the subject is urgent in nature (such as a snow closing, weather advisory, police announcement, technology announcement, etc.) then:<\/strong><\/p><p>The message should be sent (accompanied by a voice-to-voice phone conversation) to the Office of University Relations for distribution via a broadcast email to all employees and for possible posting on the &ldquo;Campus Advisories&rdquo; and for other student life issues, send to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs). &nbsp;The Office of University Relations will serve as an alternate distribution point for information to all students, on an &lsquo;as needed&rsquo; When public comment on behalf of the university is requested, an appropriate spokesperson will be identified by the Executive Director of University Communications, in cooperation with the Chief of Staff and the President. Publication of op-eds written by faculty can call attention to the quality of UMW faculty and indirectly acknowledge the quality of the academic program. These articles cast a valuable spotlight on faculty expertise and their ability to articulate strong opinions held on timely topics. The Office of&nbsp;Media and Public Relations assists faculty in placing op-ed articles in local, statewide, and national newspapers. Regularly working with op-ed editors, the&nbsp;Media and Public Relations staff remains up-to-date on current trends in editorial newsrooms and has current contact information for the major op-ed editors.<\/p><p>Op-eds appear in general-circulation newspapers and are designed for all audiences. The writing level of an op-ed page may be slightly above that of news pages, but not much higher. News and Public Information staff can assist faculty by providing editing advice and information about journalistic style. Op-eds need to follow the Associated Press Stylebook and accepted journalistic writing practices, which are different from the requirements of academic journals.
